Summer Dining Highlights

Two of the most interesting evenings dinning out in London this summer were at The Chiltern Firehouse and Kurabuta restaurants respectively.  For me Kurabuta wins hands down,  the modern mix of Japanese and ‘junk food Japan’ was completely delicious, and the Nasu Dengaku, augergines were a revelation – one of the best ways to eat aubergine on the planet!   I’ve  been researching recipes to come up with a homemade version.  Chef Simon Hopkins certainly  suggests a fine roasted aubergine with miso and chilli, which I have yet to try; I have now moved it up the list of must learn dishes.  Sitting outside on the pavement in the now named Connaught Village, it feels like quite a different area to the one I have known all my life, as its about 500 yards from my Grandparents old home.

The Chiltern Firehouse was buzzy and fun, and the cocktails set a tone for a merry evening and all the dishes were beautifully put together using quality ingredients, it seems to be a great hit with celebs,  a touch of New York in London.  Great Service and a celebrity vibe.
